Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting is a powerful tool you will utilize for burning fat and increasing mental performance. The goal of intermittent fasting is to limit carbohydrate and protein intake to a specific window of the day (ideally 6-8 hours). Your body will enter a state of nutritional ketosis when you limit carbohydrate and protein intake for a long enough period of time. Nutritional ketosis is the state in which our body transitions to fat as a fuel source in the form of ketone bodies, which our cells will then use for energy instead of glucose as derived from proteins and carbohydrates. Our brain is especially good at utilizing ketones for energy and most people find the intellectual benefits of entering a state of ketosis to be significant. People often describe the outcome as a “lifting of the brain haze” and a high overall energy level without the crashes associated with running primarily on glucose (think sugar rush/crash). It also results in formidable fat loss.
